I was sent this to post:
folks,
in vi, i was experiencing moderated screen redrawing and cursor
movement braindamage while i was logged into a remote host (a
siemens running sinix, a popular decongestant) from an aixterm
window. sound familiar?
the solution in my case was to run "aixterm -v" for vt102 mode
(resource name: vt102), log into the remote host, and set the term
type to aixterm.
this realization came after running an xterm and an aixterm
side-by-side with minimal termcap entries (vi only needs co, li, cl
and up). since the xterm worked and the aixterm didn't, it pointed
to aixterm directly. the -v option made sense and worked. the
strange thing is that even though i had a vt100 terminal, i still
had to use the aixterm termcap entry.
i've enclosed the previously posted termcap entry in case you missed
it.
