/etc/security/* and NIS (YP)

Does anyone know whether it is possible to make use of the extended user
attributes available in the /etc/security files when using NIS between a
network of RS6000's. We are interested in setting various attributes for users,
such as limits and the ADMCHG (password has expired) flag. This works fine when
the user logs into the NIS master, but as only 'standard' unix passwd file
information seems to be available over NIS, these don't take effect on the
other machines.

One thing we thought about was nfs mounting /etc/security from the YP master
machine. The thought of this initially filled me with horror, but maybe it
isn't so stupid after all :-)

Is anyone else doing anything like this?
