Bi-directional UUCP port: possible on an RS6000?

I have found that I can configure an RS6000 serial port for
either outgoing or incoming UUCP traffic, but not BOTH!
If anyone has discovered the magic, please let me know.

I am using a Telebit T1000 on the 8-port serial adapter.
