Font weirdness in Motif on RS6000 AIX3.1.3003

Has anyone experienced the following problem?

Environment:  RS/6000, AIX 3.1, 3003, X Windows, Motif ...

Text displayed in lists appears scrambled.
This happens with Adobe fonts BUT NOT with IBM fonts.

This problem showed up after installing 3002 but we were told
it was fixed in 3003.

Any comments, help, etc. would be most appreciated.
