Not impressed with MacX

My only "purist" complaint about MacX is that it tells lies: the information 
returned when you make a connection always claims to support colour (and may 
even lie about the screen size). The Mac system knows the truth, so why 
doesn't MacX?
My non-purist complaint is that MacX doesn't seem able to use the fonts 
already installed in the System, requiring you instead to duplicate everything.
