Restricting number of login attempts

On some machines, if you fail to enter a correct login and password after
three or so tries, the machine terminates the connection.  Is there a way
to do this under A/UX?

In the same vein, is there a way to track (through syslogd, maybe?) failed
login attempts?  Thanks.
