Problems with Motif 1.0 on Interactive/386

Well, Ive looked and looked and I can't find any answers. Im using Motif
1.0 UIL compiler on a 386 machine running Interative's version of UNIX.
1) XmForm - I see no way to get an XmForm to size itself. I've tried
setting the relationship of all objects in the form but short of
my setting height/width on the form, I've found no way to prevent the
forms children from overlapping.
2) XmRowColumn - is there a way to make a row or column with all of the
children evenly spaced out in the row or column?
3) XmScale - I created a vertical scale object with labels and tick
marks. The labels seem to be attached to the left side of the scale
rectangle and the scale to the right. As the scale containing
rectangle widens, the labels get farther from the scale. Is this
a bug? Is there any way to fix this short of putting all vertical
scales in a form and attaching the scale to the form on 3 of 4
sides (say T, B, R) so that the form will grow horizontally instead
of the scale?
4) I've been doing all my testing of look and feel using the UIL compiler
and the same simple program (init MRM, init X, load resource from UID
file). Is anyone else having problems with thsi combination causing
their X server to "seize up". (Sorry, about the lack of facks but
their hard to see if you're only option is killg X).
Any help would be greatly appreciated,
Janice
