SCO uucico xon/xoff setting

I've RTFM'ed, but can't find an easy way to do this:

Enable or disable Xon/Xoff on the port that uucico is using to call out
on.  Yes, I know about (stty ixon ixany; sleep 10000) </dev/tty1a but
that's a bit of a kludge.  What's the correct way to do it?
