16550's and a Bell Tech HUB-6 Card

There's been some talk lately about using 16550's in place of 16450
UARTs (or 8250's for older boards). Well, recently I made the plunge
and put some 16550's into an Intel (nee Bell Tech) HUB-6 card. It
almost works.

Leaving aside my major problems for now, could someone answer some
questions? Now, I'm not a Double-E, but I play one on TV. I noticed
that the 8250B's that I took out were TTL parts, and the 16550's I put
in were CMOS (16C550's). Is this a problem? What kind of problems
could I expect? (Lord knows I'm having some weird ones. These chips
*almost* work right: Everything fine, run tape drive, everything not
fine.)

Yeah, I suppose I should've asked all these questions before I bought 6
16550's, but I get kinda impulsive sometimes.
