Dear Unix and News Gurus:
WHAT ARE THE OPTIMUM FILE SYSTEM PARAMETERS FOR NEWS ?
We are running the latest CNEWS with dbz. All access is via NNTP.
The disk partition available to house news sources and articles is about 560MB.
The host system is an Encore Multimax running Umax 4.3.
We are taking a complete feed including ALT, BIONET, etc.
Given the distribution of article sizes of the typical news feed,
limits of our disk partition, rate of incoming articles, etc:
WHAT SHOULD THE FILE SYSTEM PARAMETERS BE SET TO WHEN DOING NEWFS ?
Second important question:
WHAT TECHNIQUE SHOULD BE USED TO SAVE/RESTORE THE CONTENTS
IF WE DECIDE TO REBUILD THE FILE SYSTEM ?
(we have read that certain files contain "holes", and are not amenable
to certain save/restore operations).
