xbbs compile problem

Alright gang, I've been working on this XBBS for about 2 weeks now with no    
luck in getting it to compile on 286uport. I've figured out that I need some
directory routines linked in(readdir, getdents, closedir... etc)
I got a copy of Doug Gwyns' routine, but alas they will not compile either.
So 'till I know 'C' well enough to modify these things that will not compile,
is there anyone runningversion 7.20 of XBBS on uport 286 that could put the 
executable (bbsc1) up for me to call in and download ??? 
Or maybe the libdirent.a file (or whatever library has these routines in it) ??
