uport download access

Has anyone besides the beta test sites been able to download 386-fix
files from the microport bbs ?  I dialed in and registered over 2
weeks ago and did everything else required as per John P's news posting
on bbs access.  I even subscribed to uport's V386 update and support
services.  To date, after at least 2 e-mail complaints to uport, I
am still unable to download a file from 386-fix using kermit - yes, I know
that downloading via uucp is not permitted except from the UNIX 
directory.  

Can anyone provide me some technical information on what I am doing
wrong ?  Please no flames on uport support - I simply want to solve
a problem and feel that "flames" waste the time of both the poster
and readers.
