Has anyone else had the experience where queueing up a print job
when the printer is not-ready will hang the system after a few seconds ?
I ran into this for the first time today. Im running Sys V/AT 2.3U.
The printer is turned off, a user types "lp filename" and the job is
queued. Everything is fine for a few seconds and then the system slowly
starts to die. No errors, just cursor disappearing, serial ports stop,
etc. Luckily I was here and just happened to turn the printer on.
Instantly the system freed up and everything proceeded normally, and
the job printed out.
Is this normal ? If so, are there any configuration steps that I
can take to minimize the effects ? I'm suprized I never ran into it
before. Thanks.
