DosMerge Dos partition access protections

In standard form, if a Dos process running under DosMerge 1.1
(w/Microport's 3.0e 386 Unix) accesses a file on the Dos partition for
writing, it becomes the sole owner of the partition, and no other Dos
process can access anything on it until the first process exits (just
closing the file doesn't do it). What I want to know is if anyone
knows of a way to disable this mechanism. I know that will allow the
possibility for 2 Dos processes to simultaneously access and damage a
Dos partition file or directory. But as the sole user of the system,
I'd rather deal with this than the inconveniences of the current scheme.
Besides that, some of the multitasking 386-Dos products (Concurrent Dos,
DoubleDos, Windows, etc...) don't protect files at all anyway.
