Debugging in the presence of signals

Can somebody tell me how to either prevent sdb from grabbing
all signals and returning to the prompt when one is caught,
or how to return control to the executing process after a 
signal has been caught, or an alternative?   (why is Brad
Templeton's name in my head as I think about this?).
