I had several people ask if I got a solution to the UNIX/laser disc
problem....
I got the following in the mail...
>From the Nov 86 Mini-Micro Systems:
"Fujitsu America Inc., San Jose, Calif., has introduced a 5-1/4" WORM drive
that features two lasers, one to write while the other verifies data. The
twin-beam design allows these two tasks to be performed in one revolution
of the disk instead of two. The M2505A drive uses a cartridge that stores
300Mb per side. A Fujitsu SCSI controller will support 4 such drives on
one SCSI node. Evaluation units that include drive and controller are
priced around $3,500 and will be available the first quarter of 1987."
I called Fujitsu and they said the product won't be available for
about 6 months.... I don't remember the name or phone number....
you can look it up for yourself
