Korn Shell and Suns

I recently tried porting the Korn Shell to a Sun 3/160 running release 3.2.
After a few minor hiccups it compiled ok and appeared to run correctly.
However when I tried to use 'suntools' from within it I had problems. Any
attempt to move, close or quit a window, resulted in the old copy of the
window being left in place on the screen. Even doing a redisplay of the
screen did not clear this. Has anyway else come across this and knows why
it happens and what the fix is?
