Need help compiling Kyoto Common Lisp on Sun 3/60 running SunOS 4.0

I am having trouble compiling KCL on a Sun 3/60 running SunOS 4.0.  Raw_kcl
compiles fine, but gets a "Memory Fault" when loading "../cmpnew/cmpmain.lsp".
I ran dbx and found that "string_eq" was being passed a nil from "intern".
Has anyone had this problem?  Do you have a fix?  Thanks.
