XBBS-NET is now starting it's first phase of beta testing. This program,
written by Lance Ellinghouse, starts new phase of networking between XBBS
sites. Basically, it is a simulation of "Echo Mail" which is used by Fido
and Opus sites. However, because of its nature, it cannot tie directly into
the above mentioned systems. When Lance and I get the software into a release
form, it will be available on his and my systems for downloading. So far,
all seems to be working properly, so it should not be too long before public
distribution will be available.
Unlike "Echo Mail", the connections are made via uucp. The message handling
is controlled by a program which is called via a uux command ( just like
rnews ).
When distribution is available, I will post a message on the net.
