adb or other debuggers

This is my first posting to this newsgroup, so please excuse me if I break
any rules &/or conventions.

I am looking for a good, READABLE introduction to adb or any other
debugger available in the UN*X enviroment.  Can anybody out there supply
referance(s) to such books, papers etc.
