Uses for Aliases

I've been using Unix for about 3 years now, and I think that aliases are
terrific. I use them all the time for three main kinds of things:

-short-form for common commands (myjobs = ps -aux | grep -i 'inc')

-cd'ing to directories I need to be in alot, particularly when they're
     more than 3 levels down.

-fixing common typos (mroe = more, for example. I do that ALL the time!)

Here's my question: are there any other categories of uses for aliases? When
I find myself doing things repetiously, I usually begin thinking about ways
to automate a solution. Can anyone think of other things aliases are
commonly used for that doesn't fit into one of the classes mentioned above?
