program called maxima(sp?)

Hello out there in netland ...

I am not sure if this is the right place ... but it is as good as any to start.

I am trying to get some info on a program called "maxima" (sp?) which I was led
to believe is a math/statistics package with decent graphics.  I would also
like to find out what platforms it runs on (*NIX ?).  Thanks!
