Differences between System V 'tar' and BSD 'tar' facilities?

I have created tar files under 4.3BSD on a vax and had no trouble reading
them on SYSV R3 on an AT&T 3b2, and vice-versa, so there shouldn't be
any difference between tar files on either system.
