The latest bug fixes for PLP (Public Line Printer) software is available using
anonymous ftp from vlsi.cs.umn.edu (128.101.230.15), pub/PLP.<version>.tar.Z

This is a functionally equivalent 4.X Spooler that is in the public domain.
Reports indicate that it will work on SYSV that has support for TCP/IP,
and if you do not have it a simple modification to the low level
network connection/shutdown routine makes it trival to modify.
It has an enormous amount of debugging and other stuff put into it,
as well as a test mode that allows you to DYNAMICALLY turn off
debugging messages. Also, it supports:
1. Multiple printers for the same spool queue.
2. You can NFS mount your spool queue directory.
3. Provides access control to spool queues based on host, userid, page count,
	etc.
4. If you have Transcript or other stuff, you can the drivers with PLP.
(Actually, a large number of bug fixes in this stuff is also available.)

The next version will also provide a high level public key encryption algorithm
for machine/host identification and intermediate files.

Oh, yes. It also has pretty status messages... not quite as clever as some,
and contributions are welcome.
