PLEASE forgive me if this is the incorrect group in which to post ...

We have a program on our UNIX based machines here that is very nice
(usually) to use to read the news from USENET. It is called
vn
Has anyone ever encountered this problem ?? I have been unable to get
help from the sys. admin. at this site (we don't really have one).

HERE IS THE PROBLEM :
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
The file "vn" is supposed to read the USENET newsgroups. It usually
works very well when it is working. It is supposed to read _ONLY_ the
newsgroups to which you 'subscribe.' One can subscribe to the
newsgroups of interest and see others with 'vn -n <newsgroup>.' My
problem is that when I run vn, I get _all_ the newsgroups with any
traffic instead of just the ones which I want.
I have checked a file called '.vna09343' which lists the newsgroups and
has a ':' by the ones I am supposed to be fed, but I still get all the
traffic.
Presently, my only recourse is to call each group with 'vn -n
<newsgroup>'.
Any ideas I can try ??????
Please Email as our system is small and we cannot keep news for more
that a day (gets deleted). Email: david at jc3b21.UUCP
