Csh in SunOS 4.0.3 exits when Ctl-D typed in column 2 (if left is 1)

Most UNIX users of some standing know about the view-file-completion
facility in the c-shell, accessed via Ctl-D. Ctl-D is also used for
exit and logout, but must be typed at the beginning of a line to do
so. The new SunOS 4.0.3 csh now exits on both of the first two columns
when Ctl-D is typed. This is busted.
Does anyone have a patch?
