plot - help!!

Hi!

I'm interested in putting some fairly simple graphics up on a
unix machine, doing this from a C program which would also
have to deal with writing text to the same window/screen, AND
would allow the user to answer input queries in specified locations
AND could be learnt within a week by three people.  Plot has
been suggested to us as an alternative . . . I'm VERY interested in
getting in touch with anyone who has used plot about how to get
started (the unix man pages on plot tell you how to do things once
you've gotten going, but don't seem to offer anything to those of
us that are just starting out).

Any help would be much appreciated and very timely.
