DISCLAIMER: I have not used the book.

Recently I saw the following book published by Prentice Hall at a friend's
place. It seemed to have a pretty good discussion of Sockets, TLI and
similar mechanisms with lots of code/examples. It did seem to have good
introduction to the whole topic.
