Question on Rn macros

I have been trying to write a macro that junks all the articles from
the beginning of the current list of articles to the current article but
can't seem to get it to work. Here is what i have so far:

    a %(%m=[ap]?^%'echo %a > ~/.ArtN':a)

Goto the beggining of article list and save article number in file ~/.ArtN

    J %(%m=[ap]?%'cat ~/.ArtN',%a j%'echo %a > ~/.ArtN':)

Junk every thing from last mark to current article and save current
    article in file ~/.ArtN

But it doesn't work. Can anyone tell me how what is wrong or if there is
some hidden command in rn which does this.

Also if anyone has any nifty macros i'd love to look at them...

Thanks,
