What is the AF_LINK family in BSD scokets?

Hello,

Can someone explain to me what the AF_LINK family is?

Also, could someone fill me in on unix point-to-point links, as
mentioned in if.h, and their special considerations?  I would prefer
email answers, especially if you read this in comp.unix.questions.
