Connecting a Modem to Sparcstation?

Problem: How to connect a 2400 Bd Modem to SUN4 (Sparc Station)
and make it work correctly.

Situation: Made Cable according to Sun Manual, defined entry in
Gettytab for ttya and cua0; OUTGOING Calls are working (via 
TIP and the corresponding files), but whats not working is:
I cannot dial in to Sun from outside, e.g. a PC running a terminal
program. What happens is:
The two Modems connect, talk about origin/answer modes and frequencies
together, then shortly the Carrier Detect on sun side comes up,
some seconds later the sun side modem switches off carrier and hangs up.
The modem on sun side has been proved to work with a PC and e.g. TELIX
for both sides, so there is probably a configuration fault on sun side.
Can anyone tell me the complete and correct configuration for the dialin
mode of a 2400 baud Hayes modem?
