FTP commands from an input file

I'm no UNIX or FTP expert, certainly, but I *do* have a working copy
of a program called AUTOFTP30 that allows me to put SIMTEL20 file
descriptions into a local file and fire off an FTP session in the 
background, with continuous retries until connection is established
using some random retry process that I don't understand.  All I had
to do was unshar the file Keith Petersen sent me, compile three c 
programs, and it was ready.  Each time I want to request files from 
SIMTEL20, I just place their names and directories in a file and
"batch" the file off in the background.  I can email this shar file
if you think any of it would be helpful.
