VMS DCL style history and command modifications

Does anybody know of a shell script or utility which emulates the way
VAX VMS does recall of prev commands and command line editing?
I.E., successive up-arrows gives prev commands; left and right arrows
allow insertion editing; delete key deletes char in front of cursor,
etc.  Coming from VMS to UNIX, I find the BSD C-Shell implementation
rather primative!
