	Greetings folks!

I'm wondering if someone can point me ( a new unix administrator) in
the right direction for fixing this problem...

I have a Sparc1gpx running 4.0.3 with a 327 and 104 mb disk. The system is
connected to the network via thin wire and is the second to last drop on this
segment. We recently added a "client" xterminal (NCD) for a summer student..
Heres my problem..

The owner of the sparc1 has a huge code that they need to ftp every once in a
while.. the Compressed tar file is 7,187,670 bytes in size.. Every time I try
and bring this file onto the machine I get the following error

	netin: connection reset by peer
	550 tar.z.Z broken pipe

I have gotten anywhere from 42000 to 97000 bytes of the file on the system
before I get this error. I can transfer the file to other systems, so I dont
believe that it is the file. We have plenty of disk space.. And he claims that
he "used to be able to do this". Since I'm new here I can't confirm that last
point.

Question:

Where and how should I start to look...

	Could it be hardware...???

	Could it be software...???

	Could it be netware...???

Related or unrelated info:

I have been able to FTP ~969000 byte files to and from this machine
in both binary and ascii mode.

The xterminal all of a sudden is getting "connection closed" from the
sparc1 during telnet sessions. The Xterm is using the sparc for the window
management software. When we try and reconnect the xterm we get no name
services responding or connection refused or host unavailable. BUT we go
next door and the programmer is happily working away on the Sparc1

Any and all information gladly accepted...
