In an article long since expired, I asked about finding an editor like EVE
under Unix. Three sources have been suggested to me, but none of the
software is in the public domain.
a/Soft Development have written a TPU clone, so you can get vi, EDT or EVE
to run. I believe this runs under DOS as well as Unix. They can be found
at 1353 Salem Street, North Andover, MA 01845 (+1 508 683 4369).
Boston Business Computing of Andover, MA have an Unix EDT clone which has
been extended to include many features of EVE (contact sales at ednor.bbc.com
for more details).
Roger Nelson (rnelson at cs2.cs.wsu.edu) also has a full screen editor that
incorporates many of the features of EVE, and is called REDT. It runs under
X as well as on ASCII terminals.
A number of people have suggested that the best approach would be to use
EMACS (which has an EDT emulation built in) to develop an EVE lookalike.
Many thanks to all who replied, Neil.
