HELP, NEED SORT FOR BINARY FILES.

UNIX SORT PROGRAM:
 
     Need help finding the source code for a UNIX sort program.  It
must be one that can sort files of fixed length records of binary data.

     Someone responded to my plea for help with a suggestion that I use 
Perl to do the job.  Since I lost the mail message they sent when I
tried to reply to them, does anyone know what perl is?  And where?
