Make and RCS, help me find source code

Back in 1985, some kind person on the net told me how to get RCS. From
either the same person, or someone else (I can't recall), I also got a
version of Make that understood RCS. It knew when a file version had changed
and automatically checked out a new version for me. For our needs it was
perfect.
This was running on a VAX 750 (4.2 BSD). We successfully move the binary
to a VAX 785 (4.3 BSD). Now we've got a DEC 5810 RISC machine and the binary
can't be moved. We used to have the source, but it disappeared and nobody
knows when.
A strings(1) on the binary reveals few clues, but some revisions were checked
in by 'fuka' and there's also a few occurrences of 'Walter F. Tichy' and
'Purdue'.
Is there any chance that this source code is still available somewhere?
For the record. No, I don't want to change to SCCS. Yes, I've tried GNUMake
and it doesn't behave the same way, and the differences are not a matter of
form but of function.
Any pointers to source would be greatly appreciated.
