BINARY sed-like editor needed!

Is there a "sed"-like editor available that can understand 8-bit files?
Ours munges anything that isn't straight text.  An interactive binary
editor would be IDEAL, but we can't have everything...  IF anyone has
any pointers, send e-mail.  I have access to anonymous ftp, so an address
where source can be found would be great.  Thanks, net.readers...
