Convergent GT Terminals in alien environment.

We are about to move from our Convergent Technology Miniframe (68010
running CTIX) to a SPARC2 system in March/April.

Although we will have a couple of SLC's with the system, we would
like to run our Convergent gt terminals through their serial ports on
the Sun server. There seems to be no problem in running them as plain
ANSI dumb tubes, but they also have graphics capabilities which we would
like to continue using.

I am aware of a number of files on the Miniframe in /usr/lib/iv such as
ws201.232 etc which are uploaded to the gt terminals when booting them
over a serial line to the Miniframe. I have written a perl script which
looks as if it sends the right bytes to the screen as the gtdl program
(which I understand will boot the correct code into the gt to give it
graphics capabilities).

I am, however, stuck trying to get the gt to accept these sequences. I
guess there is a sequence of codes which allows the gt to read a
subsequent byte stream and load it into its memory, but the manual we
have does not give sufficient info and the UK importers of CT kit don't
want to know.

I assume that once we find the right sequences to kick the gt into
action, we could just copy the ws201.232 files across to the sun and
boot the gt's there.

If anyone from CT or anyone using this kit can help we would be v.
grateful.

Best Wishes, Pete Phillips.
