How do I get my Unix machine on the map?

I want to register or do whatever to get my home Unix box on "the map(s)" 
that contain "all" uucp paths to "all" of those Unix machines.  

How do I do this?  Is there more than one organization I should register
with?

Also, UUNET offers a domain registration service which for $35 registers 
you with the Network Information Center.  Do I want to do this?  Can I do
it without going through UUNET?
