PC <-> Wstn SLIP: How to do it?

Hi there!
I have a network of workstations (Sun, HP, DEC, IBM) and I would like to
allow some of our clients to dial up via ISDN, and use SLIP to allow them
to run Xwindow applications on PCs or workstations at their remote sites.
I am inclined to use a Sun 3/60 running SunOS 4.1.1 to be my gateway to
these remote sites. I expect the "topology" would look like this:
Remote <-> SLIP <-> Modem <-> ISDN <-> Modem <-> Sun <-> Local ethernet
PC Pkt Dvr line 3/60 (138.2.131.0)
1. What would be a good PC X-server for this setup?
2. What else would I need on the remote PC? I presume I can use something
like KA9Q, NCSA Telnet, or FTP software's PC/TCP. I will probably need to
use Clarkson's SLIP packet driver (I presume this is the SLIP8250 I see in
the Ver 9 packet driver collection). Anything else?
3. What kind of serial port will the SLIP packet driver support?
Asynchronous ports? Synchronous ports? I presume the SLIP driver is
independent of the maximum data rate?
3. What dial-up software will I need? How does this dial-up software
hand-off to PC/TCP once the connection has been made?
4. What would I need on the Sun (commercial or public domain)? Where
would I get these from?
5. How must I assign the IP addresses for the remote PCs and the Sun's
serial interface to the ISDN modem? I will need a separate subnet for the
serial interface on the Sun. Must each client be assigned a different IP
address on this "serial subnet" or can they all share the same IP address.
6. What are the security considerations when using SLIP?
7. My ISDN modem provides async serial service up to 19.2 kbps and sync
service up to 64 kbps. However I only have async ports on my workstations.
Is 19.2 kbps adequate for the remote PC to run an xterm to my workstation.
8. If this works out, and the demand justifies it, I would probably replace
the Sun with a terminal server. What should I look for if I wanted to buy
such a box? I guess 56 kbps interfaces should be one thing. Any others?
9. Anything else that I should consider?
