sendmail/addressing question

Calling all sendmail afficionados: The mail on my Sun (OS 4.1.1) comes
in via two VAXen, which complicate the "From:" line so that a number
of pieces of mail cause sendmail to hiccup. This hiccup takes the form
of sending me the original mail PLUS sending the Postmaster (also me)
a message saying it had problems sending the mail.
I'm trying to create a sendmail configuration rewrite rule to
handle this special format (without mangling the rest of my mail).
I've modified some of the re-write rules, but I'm shooting in the
dark. I have RTFM, and I'm still in, at best, twilight.
Here's a sample of the way the "From:" line looks every time the
mailer doesn't like the address:
From: AEACUS::IN%@ATHENS(weinri at athena.cs.uga.edu" "Kevin Weinrich)
When the address doesn't include the quote marks or the name at the
end, I get no error messages.
Any help you can send my way would be greatly appreciated.
If possible, send mail to kxx at epavax.rtpnc.epa.gov
