I personally find that "complex" and "easy to use" are somewhat at
variance. If you don't use perl frequently you are unlikely to use it at
all. It's just too large a language to use three times a year and
remember any significant portion.
Perl is the PL/I of implementation languages, and what we need is
"subset G."
