What VGA works with uport 2.[34]?

I'd like to replace my EGA card with a VGA.  I've got an
original NEC multisync, and my understanding is that this 
monitor will not support the super-VGA resolutions.  This 
will not be a problem for me -- what I'm after is >16 colors. 
 
I'm running uport's 2.3 console driver (I've got 2.4, but  
that wouldn't switch back into text mode from graphics mode.) 
Uport's 2.4 release notes mention a couple VGA's but it also
talks about EGA-register-compatable...  Rather than rely on
the release notes, or take a chance that the board I buy would
not work, I figured I'd post a query to see if anyone is using
a VGA with their uport 2.[34] system.
 
So, I would appreciate a simple e-mail reply saying "Company
foo's model X VGA board works/does not work with uport 2.3/2.4"
if you have had any good/bad experience with VGA cards and uport.
