Jumper settings Maxtor ESDI drive

I am trying to hook up a Maxtor XT4175 ESDI harddisk to a WD1007A-WA2
10 Mbit/s ESDI controller. The manual of the controller states that this
WD1007 only works with hard sectored drives with 35 sectors per track.
I can't get the controller to recognize the drive, is there anyone
who knows the correct jumper settings for this Maxtor drive or any 
other Maxtor drive (I expect there isn't much difference in drive electronics) 
to get it in hard sectored 35 sectors mode?
