sco unix nfs umask problem

has anyone out there noticed the SCO NFS server umask bugfeature?

the server apparently ignores the umask when a file is created over NFS.

directories are always created with permissions "700", even
if the user umask is 022. files always get created with "600".

this makes "tar"-ing to NFS mounted directories very difficult, and
also breaks many applications. sad face :(

have you a workaround for the problem? comments? ravings?

peace!
