NEC 4D Picture Geometry

Hello,

I'm using an NEC 4D with an ET4000 based VGA card and the Western Digital
Imaging 8514/A card, both at 1024x768 non-interlaced resolution (8bits/pixel).

It works fine, but the display/picture seems funny. There's a hint of a 
dark shadow at the top-most 20 lines and the sides are bulged outward. Kinda
like this: ( )

I have tried to adjust the H/V-knobs, but that doesn't seem to make a 
difference.

Does anyone know if this is usual? What's a possible cause?

Any pointers would be very much appreciated.
