Dave, it doesn't really matter which UART chip the T2500 uses.
It's not an internal modem.  Any UART trouble you might be having
with the T2500 would be with your own serial board's UART, not the
T2500.  The original poster to the thread (sorry, forgot his name)
was having trouble with the T18PC with is an *internal* modem card.

(I'm not saying that the trouble you're having isn't important :-)
Not at all.  Just that your trouble would be with the serial board
instead of the modem if it were UART trouble...)
