The following is a summary of an article found in UNIX Today! (Dec 10, 1990)
that contrasted the UNIX System V Release 4 offerings from UHC and Dell:
UHC
price: unlimited - $1495; 2 user - $1280; paper doco $995
support: free for 1st 30 days, $1190 / year
upgrades: upgrade from any 286/386 UNIX to 4.0 $880 (2 user)
media: 150 MB quarter inch tape (Wangtek or Archive drive with QIC-02 or
SCSI interface required). Also available on 3.5 or 1.44 floppies
(73 or so of them).
comments: UHC "shipped it first". UHC wants to be compatible with as wide
a variety of hardware as possible, and delivers a wide variety
of device drivers. Installation is a "painful experience".
XWIN, Open Look and X11/NeWS included.

Dell
price: unlimited - $1295; 2 user - $995; paper doco $744
support: free for 1st 30 days, $500 / year (unlimited), $350 (2 user)
upgrades: upgrade from Dell sysV 3.2 to 4.0 for $399.
media: 150 MB quarter inch tape (Wangtek or Archive drive with QIC-02 or
SCSI interface required).
comments: Dell is selling hardware and software solutions, and officially
support SVR4 only on their hardware. Dell is waiving the usual
10% restocking fee so users can try it without risk. Dell has
streamlined the AT&T code, and added a lot of enhancements at the
user level. XR4, Motif 1.1, and Open Look are included. Dell
also includes SLIP, emacs, rcs, gdb, elm, mh, and mmdf.
