}Look into your release notes or into the script /usr/lib/mkdev/hd ;-)

This is not correct. SCO Xenix 2.3, SCO Open Desktop, and SCO UNIX 3.2
all support up to 2 ST-506 style controllers in a single machine, each
with up to two disks per controller, for a total of 4 ST-506 disks.
(This includes controllers such as the WD1007 which present an ST-506
interface to the bus, even though they are ESDI controllers.)
In addition, SCO UNIX allows you to have up to 4 SCSI disks on up to 2
SCSI controllers, while SCO Xenix 2.3 GT allows you to have up to 14
SCSI disks on 2 Adaptec SCSI controllers. Of course, you have to alter
the NDISK and NMOUNT parameters to allow for this many disks on your
system. The specific disk you are adding is specified by options to
'mkdev hd'.
Only if you are using an SMS OMTI controller are you limited to 2 disks
per system.

I hope that this has been helpful.
